Aspen Institute

Aspen Institute
An international, non-profit think-tank based in Aspen, Colo., Washington, D.C., and Wye River, Md., whose mission is to "foster values-based leadership" and "provide a neutral and balanced venue for discussing and acting on critical issues." It holds seminars, young-leader fellowships, policy programs and public conferences and events in support of these goals.

The Aspen Institute does policy work in a broad variety of areas, including Middle East issues, homeland security and health and biomedical sciences. It also publishes reports and a semiannual magazine. Its board of trustees has included distinguished personalities such as Madeline Albright, Michael Eisner and David Koch. The Aspen Institute had assets of $153 million in 2008 and is funded by individuals, corporations and institutions.
